October 2022

For the second Randolph Fellowship camp of 2022, we traveled again to the camp site in Vierhouten at the beginning of October with a group of 16 motivated students from all over the Netherlands. Here we as management first spent an evening getting to know each other, went through the program but above all reflected in detail on the ideas of Randolph Fellowship. After some final preparations, we welcomed a very special group of approximately 40 children from the Amsterdam Mundus College to the camp site on Tuesday morning.

With the help of four fantastic teachers, the group was complete and we could prepare for two great days. The first thing that made this group of children so special was that (almost) none of the children spoke Dutch. However, the management soon noticed that the atmosphere, especially when communicating with English, hands and feet, was immediately good for the children, teachers and students. The first day mainly consisted of getting to know each other, playing football and discovering the terrain. We were pleased to see how many students quickly came out of their shells compared to how they emerged that same morning. Not every student found this easy, but with the inexhaustible enthusiasm of the management and teachers, we tried to make every child feel at home.

Day two was quite a party. Various playground equipment and old Dutch games were rented that both student and teacher couldn't seem to get enough of. The inflatable rodeo bull was especially popular! Fortunately, the pancake lunch soon followed, where everyone could recharge. After a good game of football and an extensive make-up tutorial, it was time for a nice dinner at the large tables outside in the sand, where the shawarma sandwiches were hard to come by! When it got dark, we all went inside where we started the disco with a music quiz. After that the party really started, and it remained restless in the camp house for a long time... The next morning it was unfortunately time to say goodbye to this wonderful group of students and teachers. After lots of hugs and with a beautiful group photo in their pocket, the students left for Amsterdam again. The leadership and the Randolph Fellowship board look back on a very successful camp. And on to the next one!
