History
The Randolph Fellowship Foundation was created in memory of Randolph Sandkuyl. In 2006, Randolph was fatally injured in an unfortunate fall in Sri Lanka. Randolph, a then 21-year-old student at the Utrecht University, decided he wanted to put his feet in the sand and give kitesurfing lessons to underprivileged children. He became a manager and kitesurfing instructor in the Sri Lankan town of Hikkaduwa. An unfortunate fall, due to a loose trapeze, became fatal to him.
From his name and vision, Randolph's parents decided to set up a foundation to lend a hand to as many underprivileged young people as possible in the future. For the first few years, the foundation was active in Sri Lanka. In 2012 it was decided to stop the activities in Sri Lanka and to support the underprivileged youth closer to home, here in the Netherlands.
Since then, numerous activities and summer camps have been organized, where students (like Randolph) lend a hand to underprivileged children. Not only for the children but also for the students who go along on the summer camps, this is a very special and educative time.
Much has changed over the years, but still, since Randolph's first step in Sri Lanka, his thought lives on. A foundation for young people, from young people.
